I, amoung many others, am a huge fan of Michael Jackson. But I'm sure we all can agree that he was a little bit strange at times...This video makes fun of his weird dancing and weird appearance. Although a lot of us can agree that he was extrememly talented, the things that he did throughout his life are very surprising and easily to make fun of. Such as, his skin color, dance moves, and his plastic surgery. This video is funny because it transforms his song "Black or White" to "Am I Black or White?" because his skin color changed throught his life, and no one was really exactly sure why. The guy in this video also made his dance moves funnier and more ridiculous.

Information Seeking
I knew that I wanted to be apart of some team or club here at MSU. I almost thought about walking-on the Varsity Swim Team here, but they practice 5 hours a day, and that would be a major time-drainer. So I thought about joining a club team instead. I searched the MSU websites to see what kinds of clubs they had, and I stumbled across a club Water Polo team. I have never played water polo before, but I was a great swimmer in high school, so I thought I would do some research about it. I went to Google (of course) and found a lot of websites describing how to play the sport. I found sites that discribed the different positions of the players and the rules of the game. The site told me what the certain penalties were and what kinds of behaviors would result in one. I learned a lot about the structure of a water polo team, and different techniques that I would have to learn to know how to play. I basically found everything that I was looking for.
There were many times when I had to do research for a school project. I remember in 11th grade, my whole class had to write an essay about Lord of the Flies. I really hated that book, so the paper was extremely hard for me to write. I remember having to analyze a lot of the characters in the book. My main tool for my research was my Lord of the Flies book. I used the internet a little bit, but I couldn't really find what I was looking for. In the book, I searched for clues that would help me figure out each character's personality, ability, backround, and intentions.
Research, in my opinon, is any way of looking for information that you need. I think the past 2 experiences that I described both classify as research. I liked researching water polo, because it was actually something that interested me. But I hated reading and researching Lord of the Flies. I just feel like the story went nowhere and it wasn't as exciting as I hoped it would be.

Clive
This was a very interesting class. Clive sounds like a pretty weird guy. I can't believe that we got to talk to him on AIM. He seems pretty deep, and he definitely has a lot to say about EVERYTHING. He is very passionate about what he does. I thought that Franny and him both made very good points about the article. Clive is now telling us on AIM that it is really easy to make up or design a game. I don't think that I could ever have a real conversation with this guy because the stuff he talks about goes wayyyy over my head.

10-13-09
I guess there were a few times throughout my life when I used a technology for something other than its intended purpose. Gillette Razors, from what I can see from their commericals, are supposed to be for a man's use. I use them all the time to shave my legs. They get a really close shave, and they are more sturdy than "girl razors". I understand that they were probably directed towards men who need to shave their faces, but I don't see why it would be so bad for girls to use them on their legs. Just because the razor isn't pink and scented does not mean that girls cannot get use of out them.
I'm sure that you all know that cell phones have an alarm system on them. I don't think that phone companies really expected someone to constantly use it in place of an alarm clock though. I constantly use my phone for an alarm and a clock, sometimes even more than I use it for calling and texting! Alarm clocks take up way to much space on a nightstand, and I feel like setting an alarm on a phone is a lot simpler than trying to figure out some high-tech alarm clocks.
When I was little, I used to use my brother's Play Station as a cd player for my music. I understand that PS was meant for video games, but it can also be used for playing other types of discs as well.
Another thing that I can remember about myself is that I use a coffee maker to brew my tea in the morning. You can just put the tea bags in where the coffee is supposed to go, and the water runs through them and brews tea for you, just as it does for coffee. It's a lot easier than dipping a tea bag in a cup of hot water constantly until all of the tea is displaced in your cup. The coffee maker just eliminates a few steps for you so that you don't have to do as much work.

Project #2
I'm not really sure what I want to do for Project #2. Nothing in my paper seems interesting enough to make a whole presentation about! It would be hard for me to do a video, since I don't have a video camera...and I'm not all that creative. I did however take a lot of art classes in high school. Maybe I could draw a comic? I still dont know what I would talk about or who my audience would be. Instead of a comic strip, maybe I could make a few drawings on big poster boards so that it would be easier for the class to see when I have to present it. I am better at just plain pencil drawings than colored pencil or paint. Drawing really detailed pictures might take a long time...so maybe I will just be really basic.
Maybe having parents as an audience would be a good idea. Parents never seem to understand why we like certain types of technologies so much anyways. Maybe I could try and convince parents that a certain technology can be really useful in a way? On my pictures, I can put a few simple words on the bottom of the poster and then talk the majority of the time. I guess that college students would also be an easy audience...since I happen to be one. I guess I have a lot of thinking to do.
